Paralympics Day

Paralympics
At the start of term 3 Kauri 12/11 and Kauri 8/9 got together and had a Paralympic day with each other. We played all sorts of different sports, e.g Boccia, Archery, Shot put, Blind Hurdles, Crawling Obstacle Course, Jumping Sack, Blind Object and Scooter Football. My favorite is Jumping Sack, because it was really fun and we did really cool jumps. We had to go around a cone and then come back and give it to the next person in your team. Most of the people in my team and the other team fell over, I fell over like twice. Here are some photos of the Paralympics games we played.

Riana’s Reflection Learning Muscles
Pinenga’s  Reflection
  • The learning muscles that I used where my collaboration muscle collaborating with my buddy and talking to her about what our next step was.
  • Another learning muscle was my managing distraction muscles because there were boys around me so I just had to try and distract them and move on.
  • I also had to use my persevering muscle to keep on trying and to never give up and also to persevere.

  • The learning muscles I used where managing distractions. Because when the boys were talking to me sometimes I will listen and if it’s something silly I will move  away from the person that was talking to me.
  • Another learning muscle I used was my collaboration because when my buddy was talking to me about the next step to do.

My Reflection what muscles did you use
  • I used my managing distractions muscle because people were talking around me so I had to ignore them.
  • I also had to use my resilience muscle to keep on trying and never give up no matter how hard it was I persevered.
  • I used my noticing muscle to notice that things might not turn out to be how I wanted it to be.

P.E Reflection

Blind Throw

Today I played a really cool game called Blind Throw. It was hard but really fun. It was hard because you had to get a mini-bean bag and try and throw it into the hula-hoop.There where three colors. Red, yellow and green. The red hoop was worth 3 points, the yellow hoop was worth 9 points and the green hoop was worth 13 points. There were 2 people per team. Our teams had to have a country name. My team's name was America, and the other team's name was New Zealand. You had to sit in a chair facing the opposite way of the hula-hoops. I found it tricky and challenging but I tried my personal best. I had to use my resilience muscle to keep on trying and to never give up! At the end I had no points but I was still proud of myself for trying my best and persevering. I enjoyed trying something new. Thank you to Mr Ford, Mrs Miller, Mrs Lowe and Mr Kenny for organizing this learning task for our hub.

Matariki Workshop Recount

Planet Pollutonia

Planet Pollutonia I am the President of ‘Planet Pollutonia’. It is my Responsibility to look after the City
A lot of bad things have been happening around the City lately. First there is the water. It is very dirty and it’s making all the fish die. I need to clean the water so that the fish don’t die, and the water doesn't get dirty.
Secondly there is a traffic jam in the smog that is right in the middle of town, and the worst thing is that there is rubbish all over town and all down streets. I need to fix this immediately!
Here are some Solutions of how I am going to fix these Problems!!!
Solutions Go around asking people why they are throwing rubbish everywhere. And ask them all to pick the rubbish up, or I will get big diggers to clean it all up, until it is all gone. Move the fish to a different pond while I get some water workers to come and help me clean out the pond. Make new roads so that there isn’t much traffic and horns beeping all day long. These were all my Solutions of how to make my City a better place!!! I hope you enjoyed reading President Riana’s Solutions. By: Riana lee Foster

A Tiger is a ferocious striped big cat. They are a  Mammal. A Mammal is a warm blooded animal.

They have sharp teeth and spiky whiskers. Their fur is orange with black stripes. They have a rough tongue and a long, furry tail.

They have eyes, ears and sharp claws. They are a wild animal and can’t be tamed. Tigers eat meat. They eat: This is species’ diet ordinarily consists of about 50% wild boar meat. If they cannot get their paws on some wild boar they have been known to eat elk, deer lynx and sometimes even bears. If large sources of meat are not readily available, Siberian Tigers will eat rabbits, fish, and any rodents they can get to.

Tiger’s have different colored fur. They have fur for a reason.  They need different colored fur, sharp claws and sharp teeth because they can Camouflage and eat the other Predators.

Fur is a fluffy type of wool. They have fur because the fur protects them when it is cold, in the winter.

Camp Omatua, When I was Sick

Why I did not go to camp by Riana
“If you were wondering why I didn’t go to camp, well it’s because I was sick all weekend with two swollen lumps in my throat.”the next day my tonsils had risen up around my mouth area and my mum said that’s what happens when your sick. Whenever i swallowed, it felt like i was going to cough up a whole lot of phlegm. It also felt like rough sandpaper rubbing against my throat. Also whenever i coughed it sounded like i had a dead frog croaking. I really didn’t like being sick and i wish that i never got sick in the first place!! Mum stayed home with me for 3 normal days until i was better. Every morning she’ll make me 1 yummy sweet lemon, honey and ginger drink just for me. At first it made my taste buds twists but then i started to get used to it. I hope that i don’t get caused with anything else next year.
mum said to me that it would be alright if I just stayed home until
i was all
better.
I really wish that I could go to “Camp Omatua”!  I bet that it would have been lots of fun.

Hopefully I won’t be sick again next year!

Project Based Learning

Hi, My name is Riana Foster.

I hope that you enjoyed my Project Based Learning Summary.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday 9 April 2016

'LOST'

‘LOST’

“Hurrah”!!! I Shouted.
I love jumping, singing and dancing, to this wonderful, cheerful music! We were at the ‘Wiggles Show’. I was too busy jumping, singing and dancing, that I didn’t even
notice my Mum say:  “I’m just going to go get us some food, OK”??! I just nodded my head like I knew what she said, when I actually didn’t.  I had no idea where she was.

When it was break time for the ‘Wiggles’, I turned back at Mum, but she wasn't there!!! I felt worried, sad and shocked, inside. I tried calling out to her but there was no reply.  My heart sunk. So I stood up and walked around the place for a while, until I seemed to bump into - something.

I felt something soft and fluffy, I felt something tall and large, I looked up. It was ‘Wags’ the dog!!! I couldn’t believe my it!!! I was happy, glad and excited to see him.
So I gave him a big hug.

So I gave him a HUGE hug. I asked him POLITELY if he knew where the food court was. He replied back, “I was just going to the food court”. He asked me if I wanted to join him. I said, “Yes Please!!! “ So off we strolled to the food court. ‘Wags’ asked me, “What color shirt was your Mum wearing”?!? I replied, “Red”. So we looked for a red shirt.

Our eyes were scanning all the shirts we could see. Finally, my head stopped at a red shirt. I gently touched ‘Wags’ and told him, “That’s my Mum over there”!! He said back “Run up to her and give her a HUGE hug”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And so I did. My Mum was shocked. She was carrying 2 drinks, 2 medium packets of hot chips and 4 small packets of tomato sauce. I ran up to her and she said
“I was just about to leave”!!! I felt so relieved! So I went over to ‘Wags’, and said, “Thank you for showing me where the food court was ‘Wags’!!! So Mum and I headed back to the show. It was really happy and cheerful to watch and listen too. We both enjoyed the rest of the show.

Using Number Stratiegies

Using Number Strategies

Rounding my numbers to the nearest 10.
Rounding my numbers to the nearest 100.
Using different number strategies like a good mathematician. Think before I write it down, so I know what to say or write down. Maths is usually a bit hard for me, but now that I’ve learned new ways to do it, I understand maths better. Thank you to Mr Kenny and Mrs Lowe, for teaching me new strategies. I really enjoyed doing maths today.
One day we had to do a ‘Colour the spinner’. So what we had to do was write down what the spinner was most likely to land on what had an even chance and what was the less likely to land on.One of the questions was: what is the chance of the spinner stopping on blue?
The answer was: 3 eights.
Another question was: what is the chance of the spinner stopping on red?
The answer was: 2 eights.
And the last question was: If the spinner is spun 1000 times, how many times is it likely to land on yellow?
The answer was 1 eight.
I hope that you enjoyed reading my maths.

A Moment in time

 A Moment in time

My Moment in time is when I DIDN'T go to camp.
I DIDN'T go to camp because I was to sick.
Whenever Mum and I went out to drop off my brother
I would always won't to take my blanket with me
because it would be to cold for a person who's sick!
I DIDN'T even try to get up, because I was to tried to even try!
My throat felt like rough sand-paper rubbing against it.
It sounded like a sick frog croaking inside my throat.
Well that's all I can really tell you about me being sick!!!
